First off let it be know that Sarah J. Maas is my favorite author. I first started reading her work a week after A Throne of Glass came out and have been following her ever since. I was very excited when I heard she was making another series (Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses are separate series), Sarah did not disappoint.

Maas spins a tale of faerie lore when Feyre is coerced into the Fey world by a beast threating her life. She later realizes he is a powerful faerie named Tamlin who's actions she cannot seem to understand. Feyre is a bit more concerned with learning to stay alive in a world that turns one's instincts against them to deduce the reasons for his actions, actions that will transform her life again.

As always, Sarah J. Maas transports readers though her wonderful uses of imagery and keeps you on the edge of you seat right with the characters. Each time something new is revealed connections to past events are realized making the book so entirely real even in the realm of fantasy.

Don't miss the second installment A Court of Mist and Fury out May 3rd 2016

Rick Yancy's, The 5th Wave, was a wonderfully creative book transporting you to very real life senarios in his fictitious post-apocalyptic world. I hope to hell and back the events (or any even remotely similar) will stay fictitious because I do not ever want to go through the trials his characters face.

The title, The 5th Wave, gives you a pretty big hint of the point in time you start the novel but of course with this being a big alien attack and all, 5th wave means the humans have been bested a total of four times already and now it time for round number five. It is like a big game of Russian Roulettte pitting humans verses aliens but that would be to fair so imagine aliens being immune to bullets or better yet, bullets are an important part of their nutrition. Okay back on topic, main character Cassie has been incredibly lucky, or unlucky depending on how you look at it, to have survived the first four waves with her dad and little brother along side her. Between the fourth and five wave she loses them but she might have a chance at getting her brother back, she promised she would come for him, promises are all she has left. In searching for her little brother Cassie is faced with uncomfortable truths and unfathomable betrayals.

The 5th Wave was very enjoyable but I must warn that it does start out a bit slow, which helps to convey Cassie's new reality, stick with it and you will be glad you did.

I have to start out mentioning that I was debating between 4 and 5 stars (5's almost never happen, unless your Sarah J. Maas), that's how good it is. I have a feeling the next one will be a 5 so we can stick with 4. I completely recommend this book and REALLY want the next!

The series Zodiac continues in this second installment. Rhoma Grace is struggling to deal with the fall out of leading an armada that failed killing hundreds including one of the people most special to her. Rho is so riddled with guilt she cannot trust herself but a time when her guidance and leadership will be needed is fast approaching. To survive Rho must stand tall with the weight of the universe once again on her shoulders as she navigates the treacherous Galaxy filled with shocking revelations and devastating outcomes.

Russell takes you on a Rhoma's journey as she tries to once again find her center and be at peace with herself. I had hoped for a little more spice in the story but while it's not as jam-packed with action as Zodiac, Wandering Star advances the series in ways that cannot be missed. By the end of the book you will be looking to the stars at home while trying to solve the problems to Rho's Galaxy and to save them yourself.

In Romina Russell's Zodiac the zodiac signs are not just the constellations you were born under or the horoscope you read for kicks. Your astrological sign is part of your life force, your home. It's no surprise that when the House of Cancer's moon crash into the home planet the whole galaxy is sent into uproar. Young Rhoma Grace with her unique ways of reading the stars is thrust into the leadership position of Cancer's Guardian and charged with protecting it's citizens but when she see's danger among the stars no one listens. Read Zodiac for a unique new look at astrological signs and to watch as Rhoma fights to save world when the universe is against her.

Lexi Greene, a not so ordinary girl with the ability to hear the thoughts everyone around never predicted that her life could get any stranger, she thought wrong. After almost drowning Lexi wakes up to find her appearances have slightly enhanced, not to mention the fact that she remembers glowing during her tussle with the waves before she was knocked out. After learning that she was almost abducted during the time she was passed out, Lexi is scared for her life. Adding in the complicated mess of boys, oh and of course, undiscovered powers that control her more than she controls them, equal a quite stressed out Lexi. After falling for deception at almost ever corner, Lexi learns that she is actually being hunted because the power she yields. In order to protect herself and those she loves, Lexi must remember memories long lost and be carful about whom she trusts.

I enjoyed the story line but feel like the book didn't meet its potential. I wanted more of a foundation/build involved in the romance aspect of the novel. Additionally., the book seamed to much about finding out who the Watcher was rather than getting the "bad guys" off her tail. Also, the beginning changes of Lexi glowing and the change of her appearance were completely forgotten for the rest of the book, so much so I almost completely forgot about them.

I feel that there is much room for this series to improve in future books and would love to see more about her deep relationship Lexi had with her adoptive parents, particularly her bond with her father and cars. I also hope to see Lexi search for her mothers journal to control her powers and learn about her people. As stated before, I see lots of potential for future books.

*I had not read any of the books in this series prior to reading and feel that doing so would have swayed me into liking this book more because I would have and emotional investment in the characters that I couldn't seem to find.
Pen is full of a quick wit that is all her own and is certainly shown in this novella. Although I loved her personality, I felt like I could not invest my self in the story. I would like to know a little more about the sibling dynamic between Pen and Azael before the fall (why her brother was so important to her that she would do any thing for him, right or wrong) and also why they were fighting a war in the first place (other than of obvious need for power between Lucifer and Michel), what happened to cause such a battle?
I did enjoy how the story of Eden that many know today was incorporated in to the story and how Pen and Azael were merged in to such tale so smoothly, as if that may have been what happened in the tale. Also, in the epilogue I was quite intrigued to find out about Pen's future and weather of not she would continue to do as asked of her by Lucifer in order to protect her brother and that struggles that would come along with doing so.

Chase "Nyx" Harcourt is pilot one of only two Streaker jets in existence, the very jets the American government of dystopian world in year 2048 is counting on to dredge them out of the Second Cold War. The only problem, the only people able to man jets reaching such excessive g-forces are teenagers in prime condition. With everything to prove, Nyx fully invests her self in her Streaker "Dragon" and the up coming trials to prove that machine and she, can beat their enemy, Ri Xiong Di. Harcourt hits a bout of turbulence when she discovers that she and fellow wingman Sylph are not alone in the sky after catching sight of a third Streaker that shouldn't exist, one with a hot pilot who is also her completion.
